On behalf of the organizing committee at the Center for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP) of the University of Tübingen and the German Botanical Society (DBG) I would like to welcome you to the website of the “Deutsche Botanikertagung” held in Tübingen from September 30^th to October 04^th 2013.

Recent advances in plant biology have been nothing less than impressive. Today, we plant biologists are deeply engaged in the pursuit of new discoveries about the nature of plant life. Not only do we derive great pleasure from basic scientific research, but we also recognize the importance of its application in biotechnology. Hence, the scientific program of the “Deutsche Botanikertagung 2013” will cover almost all aspects of plant science with emphasis on developmental and cell biology, abiotic and biotic interactions, primary and secondary metabolism, evolution and ecology, novel technologies, green biotechnology, and mycology and phycology.

To ensure the success of the “Deutsche Botanikertagung 2013”, we are already at work, reviewing plenary features, detailed symposium topics and plenary and keynote speakers.
